Makes you smile and makes me smile along

I asked him if he had a dog. He said. 'No.' and wanted to know why.
I explained that I had smiled at a man with a dog thinking it was him.
'The man smiled back.', I said. 'That's what matters.',  he replied.

It certainly does.
